Laundry Love is a no-cost laundry service open every Tuesday at the Spirit Valley Laundromat (232 N Central Ave) starting at 9am. Laundry Love is staffed and funded entirely by community volunteers. We believe that everyone deserves dignity and clean clothes!
Anyone who is experiencing homelessness or poverty is welcome to use Laundry Love. Please bring with you proof of some form of public assistance (for example: an EBT card, medical assistance card, or shelter or Section 8 verification). You must arrive between 9am and 10:45 am on Tuesday to sign up and remain at the laundromat while your laundry is washing and drying. Laundry Love is a drug- and alcohol-free space. Children are welcome but must be monitored by their parents at all times. For more information on guidelines, see the flyer below.
Laundry Love is a collaboration between Stepping On Up, Laundry Love National , Spirit Valley Laundromat, and volunteers from area faith communities. Members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Lakeside Presbyterian Church, St Michael's Catholic Church, St Paul's Episcopal Church, Unitarian Universalist Congregation, United Protestant Church, and Vineyard Church provide leadership for this effort, with other congregations and community organizations supporting Laundry Love through donations and volunteers.
Laundry Love costs approximately $500 per week to operate. It is funded through small gifts from individuals and faith communities, and occasional fundraisers. Contributions are welcome! Checks can be made out to Chum with "Laundry Love" in the memo and mailed to 102 W 2nd St, Duluth, MN 55802.
We are also seeking congregations and community groups to partner with us for a monthly Laundry Love shift. Partners organize 3-4 volunteers per month for a three hour shift and commit to fundraising $250/month. For more information, contact Joel at 218-302-0212 or by email.
